THE VANITY OF LIFE

Psalm 90:12 KJV
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Some years ago during the public presentation of my first book, IT IS WELL, I had the opportunity to discuss some family matters with one of my brothers. I expressed my worries about some sort of contention in the family as we are of polygamous background. Along the line, I said we can salvage the situation only if we all remember that this world is not our abiding place even as most of us have spent at least half of the years that we may ever live here on earth.
At that juncture, he caught in and said, 'No, no, no. I've not! I've not! He was then in his mid forties. That's the attitude of Man when it comes to the issue of life and death. Some of us believe here is our abiding place, we never give it a thought that we can be called home at whatever stage of our life by the owner of this life and that, also, informed the reason why man has successfully prepared for every other thing except death. Lord teach us to number our days.
Little wonder evil has also continued to be on the increase just because we have so much fixed our heart here on earth since it is where we have laid our treasure and have therefore forgotten that life is, 'even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.'(James 4:14 KJV).
A woman's daughter had some misunderstanding with a member of our local church and as soon as the woman got the information while on admission in a hospital, she beat her chest and vowed she will show that brother whom she is the moment she leaves the hospital. Her sickness was so minor that she never bothered about the possibility of not surviving it. She was already looking forward to returning home and showing her might to the teenager. But lo and behold, she died in the hospital and never returned to carry out her threat. Lord teach us to number our days.
A lot of people today believe they play the pipe and therefore the ones dictating the tune of the music. Because they were privileged to attain a certain position before others, they believed they hold both the Yam and the Knife and whosoever it pleases them or rather that dances to the tune of their music, they will cut out a piece for. They are never moved by the pains of their siblings, the nakedness of their immediate and distant relations, the trauma their neighbors are passing through. Their body language speaks only of Self, Self and Self. They have soon forgotten that, 'all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away( 1Pt.1:24). Lord teach us to number our days.
Ecclesiastes 11:8 KJV
But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
Remain blessed!
